Gambling Research Projects

The Gambling Treatment & Research Center is conducting research studies that offer opportunities for individuals in the New England area who are interested in participating in research about gambling.  Adults 18 years or older may be eligible for one of our research projects.  Compensation is provided for most of our studies. 

Current Research Projects:

Cognitive-Behavioral Treatments for Pathological Gambling (IRB: 04-248)  Sponsor: National Institute of Mental Health.

For adults, 18 years or older.  Compulsive or problem gamblers receive 8 weeks of individual treatment, or they may receive individual treatment and incentives for completing activities that may help reduce their gambling.

Gambling and Brief Interventions (IRB: 99-205)  Sponsor: National Institutes of Health and Donaghue Medical Research Foundation.

For adults, 18 years or older.  Individuals who gamble frequently but who do not have severe gambling problems may receive one of 3 brief interventions (1-4 sessions).

Cognitive-Behavioral Treatments for Concerned Others (IRB: 03-101)  Sponsor: UCONN Health Center, Department of Psychiatry.

For adults, 18 years or older.  Concerned significant others of compulsive gamblers rceive 6 sessions of individual treatment, or a self-help manual with information and exercises they may complete on their own.
